This week’s football phrase is To Romp Home which is commonly heard in horse racing when a horse easily wins a race. In football we use it when one team easily defeats another side; they comfortably win. In this week’s Europa League second leg Manchester City easily beat holders FC Porto 4-0 to win the tie 6-1 on aggregate – they romped home against the Portuguese side. To Romp Home.
