Good

Manchester United are champions of the world after winning FIFA’s Club World Cup against Ecuadorian side LDU Quito 1-0 in Tokyo last week. Player of the tournament was Wayne Rooney after his two goals in the semi finals and winning strike in the final.

My team, Liverpool, remain top of the Premier League for Christmas after once again denting Arsenal’s hopes on the football pitch. Last year they knocked them out of the Champions League (highlights) and last weekend they went to the Emirates and drew a game that even Wenger said was a must win game for the Gunners. Happy Christmas to the red side of Merseyside.

Bad

It could turn out to be bad for non-league team Droylsden for despite defeating League 2 side Chesterfield in the second round of the FA Cup they may be kicked out for fielding an ineligible player. This would then mean they would not be able to take their place in the prestigious 3rd round of the FA Cup next week. Their manager has threatened to throw himself off a bridge if this is the case so t may even get worse for the semi-professional side!

Bad for Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal who all have a player sent off. Vidic for United against LDU Quito and will miss the tie against Inter in the Champions League. Adebayor was sent off for two deserved yellows, going over the ball with studs showing, and will miss Arsenal’s crunch game against rivals Aston Villa, and Terry received a straight red for another studs up tackle in the Blues game against Everton. He will face a three match ban. So, a nice long Christmas holiday for the Blues captain.

Ugly

It has been a fantastic season so far for Hull City and their fans but some of their supporters showed some frustration after their 1-4 home defeat last week against Sunderland by throwing a bottle on to the pitch and nearly hitting Phil Bardsley the Sunderland defender. Pretty ugly stuff.

Funny

Not ugly, but very very funny, at least if you are a neutral or a West Brom fan. Bednar scored a last-gasp winner against Man City as he rose above the goalkeeper, Hart, and closed his eyes, spun round, and looped the ball into the net of the back of his head. An early Christmas present for the Baggies fans.

  • World Champions. Sounds good. No one made any real headway while we were away so another title to go with all the others we have. We want Liverpool’s record!
