Lee incurred the wrath of the senior players.
- managerial casualty – a manager that lost his job
I think Benitez will be the next managerial casualty.
- tripled – three times as much
Juande Ramos has tripled his salary after his move to Spurs.
- for the chop – to be fired

In Spain it is a five-horse race with Madrid, Espanyol, Villareal, Barcelona and Valencia.
- to flog a dead horse – to continue tipping a team even though they are playing badly.
Damon continues to flog a dead horse by tipping Juventus.
- sour grapes – to be bad losers
Barcelona showed sour grapes by suggesting that Rangers played anti-football.
