Good

It was smiles all round a the Bernabeu as Real Madrid secured their first Supercopa win with 4-4 away goals victory over Barcelona, their La Liga rivals. This bit of silverware will make up for their disappointing loss last week to Getafe. Higuain and Ronaldo scored for Madrid early in the first half and their team hung on to win the second leg 2-1. Not a bad start for their new signing Luka Modric, who came on as a sub and picked up a medal in his first game.

Bad

Liverpool’s Martin Skrtel will not want to remember his back pass in The Reds’ game against the league champions, Manchester City. Liverpool where leading 2-1, and looking like sealing an impressive victory, when the Slovakian defender, under no real pressure, tried to get the ball back to his goalkeeper only to see his tame pass fall at the feet of Carlos Tevez, who tucked the ball away to deny Liverpool the three points.

Ugly

Manchester United forward, Wayne Rooney, picked up an ugly gash in his sides game against London side, Fulham. The combative striker picked up the injury after going into a challenge with Rodallega. It looks likely he will be ruled out for at least a month
