The Good
It’s been good for Brazilian side Fluminense and Ecuadorian side LDU Quito as they make the Copa Libertadores Final for the first time in each of their club’s history. Fluminense came from behind to beat defending champions Boca Juniors while LDU Quito beat Mexican side America to become the first team from Ecuador to ever reach the final of this competition. Also good for managers as the managerial-merry-go-round starts. Mourinho is off to a flyer with Inter fans as he charms them with his perfect Italian while Eriksson lands the coaching job for Mexico. Some think Mark Hughes will be a future Man United coach, but for now he replaces Eriksson at Man City.
The Bad
Talking of managers, it’s not so good for one manager and that is Inter’s former boss Roberto Mancini who was fired to make way for Jose Mourinho despite winning three Italian titles in a row. will he move to Chelsea? Sadly some players looking forward to the Euro 2008 competition will miss it due to injury: Babel from Holland,A Italian Cannavaro, and the Czech star Tomas Rosicky. They’re possibly joined by Patrick Viera.
The Ugly
Polish tabloids under fire with their- ‘Off with their (german) heads’ pictures . The dutch coach of the Polish team has apologised, but there will be little love lost when these sides meet. And speaking of heads Barcelona and Cameroon star samuel Eto’o has apologised after head butting a journalist as the team prepared for an African WCQ against the Cape Verde Islands. Surely he can’t have been stressed about that! Pretty ugly indeed.
Mancini for Chelsea?
