Learn English Through Football Podcast: 2019 Festive Football
DF: You’re listening to Languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast. Hello everyone and welcome to the Learn English Through Football Podcast – the podcast for all those who love the beautiful game of football. My name is Damian and I’m here in a bright but cold Dublin, the capital city of Ireland, after travelling home for the Christmas break. Damon, who regular listeners will know, is based in Tokyo, will not be with us today a€“ he must still be celebrating Liverpoola€™s Club World Cup win!
Now, this time of year sees lots of football being played a€“ particularly in the UK a€“ and I managed to see that Club World Cup game in which Liverpool defeated Brazilian side Flamengo, while I also got to see Manchester Citya€™s comprehensive victory over Leicester City on Saturday. Unfortunately, I also caught the Tottenham versus Chelsea London derby on Sunday in which Spurs lost 2-0 and were poor throughout.
