Listen Here To be well worth the lead.mp3
This week’s English for football is the expression well worth their lead which means that not only is a team winning but that the team is playing well, that they are dominating the other team. The phrase can also be used with the words ‘draw’ or ‘victory’, for instance, Bolton were well worth their away win at QPR last weekend. At half-time on Saturday Liverpool were beating Sunderland 1-0 and playing very well indeed – they were well worth their lead though they did not go on to win the game.To be well worth the lead.
