      Germany beat Portugal 4-2 in their Group F match in Munich in a result that not many people predicted. Indeed, Portugal opened the scoring before the hosts tore their opponents apart. To tear apart another team means to beat them easily – usually with speedy attacks that opens up their opponent’s defence. Another similar phrase is ‘take aprt’ – Brazil was taken apart by Germany in the 2014 World Cup.
