Waterlogged Pitch

A waterlogged pitch is caused when a large amount of rain floods the pitch making it difficult to play the game. When the pitch is waterlogged, the referee decides whether the game can go ahead or not. Waterlogged Pitch

  • Example: The game was postponed as the heavy rain meant the pitch was waterlogged.
  • Example: Plymouth score chaotic goal on waterlogged ‘swimming pool’ pitch as they beat Bolton to go top of League One (Talksport 20 October 2021).
