(a/to) Tackle

To take the ball / possession from an opponent (fair tackle/hard tackle/crunching tackle/sliding tackle).

  • Example: Roy Keane was an all-round midfield player, he could tackle, pass, organise his team and shoot.
  • Example: The days of the Keanes and Vieras patrolling the centre of the park and dishing out crunching tackles have gone.
