Football Glossary: (a) Screamer

(a) Screamer

A really hard shot, an unstoppable shot that usually results in a goal (a pile driver). Usually a screamer is a shot from outside the box.

  • Example: Steven Gerrard scored a thirty-yard screamer against West Ham in the 2006 FA Cup final
  • Example: Cristiano Ronaldo said his long-range screamer against Porto on Wednesday was the best goal he had ever scored.
