'to go for' means to choose something and so when we talk about predictions we mean that's what we think will happen in a match. So, for example:
- HP Sauce has gone for a 1-1 draw but I'm going for a 2-1 away win
- HP Sauce has gone for another 1-1 draw
- I've gone for 2-0 to the home side, while HPSauce has gone for a 1-0 win
