Often at the start of the season, the teams that have been recently promoted are described as 'a newly-promoted side' - they have just come up from the division below. This adjective describes the fact that they are quite new to the division - maybe we can hear this in the first month or so of the league but maybe not so much from October onwards!
In this week's podcast we described both Ipswich and Leicester as 'newly-promoted sides':
- newly-promoted side Ipswich Town's return to the Premier League after more than 20 years saw them lose two-nil
- Tottenham also kicked off their season away at a newly-promoted side in Leicester on Monday night.
