What does "squirt" mean in football? 63min Suarez flashes a shot across the goal but he was off balance and squirts wide. He's not been on song at all today.

This verb is not used so much in football but in this example it means that Suarez has shot wide or hit the ball wide - I think squirt would suggest that it moved quickly on the ground.
