Hello, What does "the scoring" mean? Does it mean "the goal"? Rahid Amirguliyev opens the scoring in this Group H game, steering home after Dmitri Nazarov's effort was blocked. Thanks in advance.

To open the scoring means to score the first goal the speaker expects there will be more goals). The scoring is the action of scoring goals.
