What does "offload" mean in football?
9' Shaw wins the ball for United and offloads to Fernandes in space. The Portuguese tries to thread the needle to release Greenwood in the West Ham box, but the pass just has too much pace for the forward to reach.
13' Shaw tries to combine with Fernandes in the left-inside channel, but the offload from the Portuguese just escapes the full-back.
Thanks a lot.

To offload the ball is to pass the ball. It is usually a short pass rather than a long cross. you could also say 'lay the ball off'.
