What does "equal to it" mean here?
West Ham vs Everton
29' The first effort on target from either side comes from Harrison, but Areola is equal to it.

'Areola is equal to it.'
Areola is the West Ham goalkeeper and 'it' is a shot from Everton player, Harrison. If a goalkeeper is equal to a shot, it means they stopped it or saved it.
We can use this in other contexts on the field too: eg. if a player is equal to an opponents pace, it means they could defend successfully; they could run just as quickly.
