Against the run of play
In this week's podcastwe used the phrase 'against the run of play' which means that a team scored a goal even though they were not playing as well as their opponent. It is a little surprising that they have scored as they have not had as much of the ball (or play) as the other team.
'Fulham scored first in the 18th minute when their new signing Emile Smith-Rowe scored his first goal of the season but Leicester equalised – against the run of play – just before half-time.
