Each week we explain a soccer phrase or cliche on our weekly languagecaster podcast. You can find many more examples by going to our football phrase page and football cliches here.

Winning streak

Winning streak is used when a team wins football games in a row; they don’t lose. For example, in the Premier League at the moment Manchester United are on a 5-game winning streak, they’ve won 5 games with no losses. You can also use this expression when talking about a team that has lost some games in a row: losing streak.
