Horrible start to the season!

After the excitement of last year where we secured 5th place in the Premier League, last 16 of the UEFA Cup and semi-finalists of Carling Cup, EFC seemed to have lost the plot somewhat. A very strong defence has been the platform for our relative success in recent years but with 18 goals conceded in the league already, we look about as watertight as sponge. continue reading

The River Mersey Runs Blue

http://languagecaster.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/07/everton.gif

Massive game on Sunday for us Blues. In the biggest Merseyside derby for years I have my fingers and toes crossed that we can have a right go at them and take the 3 points.
I believe in karma so surely after the worst refereeing performance of the season by Stevie Me’s best mate Mr. Clattenberg in the reverse fixture earlier in the season at Goodison, hopefully the Gods will be wearing blue this time. continue reading

We’re on the march with Moyes’s army..

Happy days on the blue half of Merseyside :) Up to 4th in the league much to the dismay of our “top 4/big 4″ neighbours across the park, and within touching distance of a first appearance at the New Wembley. It’s always a good time to be a blue, but more than ever right now. continue reading

Oh to win a Mickey Mouse Cup

It’s only the end of September, but already it feels like our season is on a knife-edge. Tonight the Blues go to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Carling Cup. This much-maligned competition is hard to get excited about at the best of times, but I genuinely wish we could win it because it is the only domestic trophy the club has never won. continue reading

Early doors but looking good

Things are looking quite good at Goodison at the moment. Like a few teams in good form right now, we could probably do without the upcoming international break and keep the momentum going. We finally secured the signature of Yakubu, it was great to see him bag a goal on his debut and after only 10 minutes! There is a slight concern over the form of Andy Johnson, who is continue reading

New season optimism but one of the last at Goodison?

And so the Prem is back with us bringing to an end a long summer of waiting for fans everywhere. There has been lots going on at EFC this summer. We did well to get our best two midfielders Cahill and Arteta to extend their current contract from 3 to 5 years. After his performance on saturday, Arteta is now being touted as the best midfielder outside of the top 4. To me this is a little patronising but the whole top 4 issue is for another rant. Arteta is a matador and he teases and tempts defenders as if they were a bull. He certainly has me shouting Ole! continue reading

No, Everton actually

everton.gif

If I was ever going to become a blogger, what would the main topic of my cyberspeech be? Easy, the one topic of conversation you can never run out of, football. Having travelled and lived abroad a lot, my Evertonia is something that gets established usually within the first 3 questions when meeting someone for the first time.

“What’s your name?” Ben

“Where are you from?” Manchester in the UK
“Oh Manchester United?!” No, Everton actually.

I must have repeated this dialogue hundreds of times and continue reading
