Good

Aston Villa can’t stop scoring and Newcastle go on an undefeated run of six! Villa score 15 in the last three games, including a 5-1 thrashing of derby rivals Birmingham. They are now only three points behind Everton and within sight of a place in Europe next season. Newcastle win four out of six with a 2-0 victory in the north-east derby over Sunderland.

At the same time in Germany, Bayern ominously roll on, collecting the German Cup with Toni in free scoring mood. Further south in Argentina the title race hots up, which has to be good news for Argentinian fans as Estudiantes go level on points with River Plate after the latter lose to Rosario Central. It’s not just the league that is proving exciting in Argentina as Boca win in the Copa Libaterdores and join Lanus, San Lorenzo, River and Estudiantes in the last 16.

Bad

John Arne Riise! Oo Ah! We wanna kno-o-o-w how you scored that goal! Riise gives Chelsea the edge after his 95th minute own goal helped Chelsea leave Anfield with a 1-1 draw in the semi-final of the Champions league. After the same game, benitez let himslef and the team down by complaining about the referee.

While Bentitez couldn’t understand the referee, Koeman must be finding it hard to understand why he was fired just a week after Valencia win the Copa del Rey. Losing 5-1 to Bilbao and falling further down the table must have had something to do with it. Another coach quits - Carlos Parreira - this time for personal reasons leaving South Africa to look for a new manager.

Ugly

Steven Gerrard might need to find more protection after a ‘fixer’ who warned a local gangster off the Liverpool captain goes on the run from the police.

Six players from a Chinese team in the Singapore League are found guilty of match fixing.
