Who knows what tactical genius led Spurs manager Juande Ramos to take off Spurs’ two most dangerous players Lennon and Keane so early in the game, but City’s players must have thought Christmas had come early. Having been on the backfoot for much of the first half, they took instant advantage of the opportunity and proceeded to come back from behind and score the winner in style.
Although Spurs fans (well, Damian at least) may well moan and groan about offside decisions, the Blues were clearly the better side in the second half, and created the better chances.
In true City style, the team had underperformed in their last 3 games since the spectacular victory at United, so beating Spurs for the first time in quite some time was sweeeeeeeet.
There will doubtless be talk of the Blues getting into Europe next season, but top 8 is a more reasonable forecast (unless they can play Spurs or United every week).
As all Blues fans will agree, wherever we end up this year, it is has been great to see the lads playing football after the misery of last season. Roll on the Intertoto!
Call the police there has been a robbery! Not one but two offside decisions that stole three points away from the Carling Cup winners. Hard to disagree with your points though Dave! Enjoy the Intertoto!
It must be a roller coaster ride being a Tottenham or a Man City fan this season. Where they’ll be at the end of the season is anyone’s guess!
