Okada’s Japan

Japan’s first World Cup Qualifier game was held against Thailand on February 6, 2008. It was the first game for Takeshi Okada, the new manager, instead of Ivica Osim. Fortunately, we won the game 4-1, although, most Japanese fans and media were not satisfied with it - and me neither.
They should had attacked many more times to get more goals. The result was 4-1 but if we had a match against stronger teams like European or South American countries, we would not have much possibility to win. They should attack more and not be afraid of mistakes. In the game, Yasuhito Endo played well and he got a goal and an assist. He is one of the most important player and key man in Japan. I also hope that Naohiro Takahara gets fit soon, we need him.
The East Asian Championship is starting soon - from February 17 to 27. This competion is held every 3 years between the East Asian countries, South Korea, China, North Korea and Japan. This is the third time for the competition to be held and the first champion was South Korea in Japan, the second one was China in South Korea. And this time, Japanese fans really hope that we will become champion in China. In addition, we hope that we have not only good results but also good games. It will be hard but we are sure that we can make it.

Nice post. Which of the three East Asian teams is Japan’s biggest rival?
I’ve always been a fan of N. Takahara. He’s got a striker’s eye for goal and is not afraid of shooting and missing. How long do you think it will be before he returns from injury?
