The Bundesliga is back!

The Bundesliga wakes up again this week after the winter break when Bayern visit Rostock on Friday night. It will be interesting to see how the second half of the season unfolds. At the top, Bayern have a slender lead, on goal difference over Werder Bremen. This has been mentioned many times in recent weeks with Bremen mocking their arch rivals that all the money they spent has gained them no extra points. Bayern meanwhile are hoping to send Captain Oliver Kahn into retirement with the treble by winning the league, the cup and the UEFA cup. In third place is Hamburg who travel to their north german rivals Hannover this weekend. Hamburg have been in surprising form this season, but should not have enough to challenge for the title. The faint hopes of everyones second favorite team, Schalke 04 will be snuffed out well before the we reach the business end of the season. I would love to see them win, and with only two losses they have been creditable so far. Their fans keep on hoping.Leverkusen seem to fill the Liverpool role every season. Enough said!At the foot of the table Duisburg, Cottbus and Nuernburg will be hoping to get out of the blocks fast to avoid a relegation battle. This weeks games are:Rostock - BayernDuisburg - DortmundBielefeld - WolfsburgHertha - FrankfurtHamburg - HannoverKarlsruhe- NürnbergCottbus - LeverkusenSchalke - StuttgartBremen - Bochum

Nice one Hans and goood to have you back. When you say Leverkusen are the Liverpool of the Bundesliga do you mean as Tim suggests they are the people’s team or simply a side that no one believes will ever win the League again?
Are Bremen still mocking after their home defeat?
Leverkusen are a team that will always be there or there abouts at christmas, but haven’t gone on with the job. They usually finish around 4th or 5th place.
But they are not ‘the people’s team’. That title goes to anyone challenging Bayern at the end of the season (and perhaps Schalke who we all feel sorry for)!
Hope you are well Damian. Thanks for the comment.
